The one with the quote.
“Mens sana in corpore sano”
This is a famous Latin quote derived from the poem Satire X, in which the author attempts to answer the age-old question of the meaning of life. In English, it means “A sound mind in a sound body“, which, according to the author, is what we should desire.
I don’t normally subscribe to Latin quotes, I think they are pretentious. But this one struck a chord with me and so it sticks. “A sound mind in a sound body.” Asics adapted this phrase to produce “anima sana in corpore sano” (of which ASICS is the acronym) which means “Healthy soul in a healthy body.”
A healthy soul, a sound mind, a healthy body. These are the things that I desire in life.
Earlier this year, for a period of 6-12 months, I found myself in circumstances where I possessed not one of these three traits. After a fleeting fight with mortality, a rebellion against my innate survival instinct, and an overwhelming feeling that I was merely existing rather than living, I had an epiphany of sorts.
In this blog, I intend to chronicle the aftermath of my distress, my journey forward after Circumstances Of Rebellion.
I hope you will stick with me through this.
